Installation of Commercial Storms

Installation of Commercial Storms

The following must be done to insure warranty coverage. All storm windows are designed to be installed plumb, square and level. If the installer does not meet these simple requirements, the appearance, operation and weatherability of the unit will be affected.

Take shipping wrap off of the storm and remove expanders.

Re-measure both heights to cut the side expanders. Allow 1/8" to make up for the frame thickness at the head. Cut the expander to match the slope of existing sill.

Insert side expanders into the frame and set the storm window into the opening. The side expanders will hold the window up while you screw in the head of the window first.

After the head of the window is fastened to the casing, slide your side expanders out as far as you can to fill the window opening.

Screw the side expanders to the casing for a snug fit. Do not over tighten.

Remove the tape that holds the bottom expander up.

Work the inserts to guarantee that they are not binding against the frame.

If an overlap installation was used, install your drip cap after the window has been installed.
